The first course at Lynderupgaard Estate, SAMSON Academy's new permanent home, has now been completed. A two-day course for service technicians from SAMSON AGROLIZE service partner A.P. Jørgensen

SAMSON Academy can now hold its user and technical training courses in very attractive surroundings.

- We have previously held the courses at the SAMSON factory in Viborg, but now that we have between 500 and 600 students per year, we were looking for a better solution. We have that now.

Here at Lynderupgaard Estate there is a large and heated workshop, nice outdoor areas with space to knock out even the widest SAMSON snake boom, as well as great facilities for the more theoretical training, explains Kim Bennike, who is responsible for the technical training at SAMSON AGRO.

- Lynderupgaard Estate will now be our permanent training location. Catering and overnight stays for courses lasting several days are handled through an agreement with Hjarbæk Fjord Golfcenter, which is located right next door. They're typically less busy during the months when we run our courses, so it's ideal.

SAMSON Academy now has a permanent setting at Lynderupgaard Estate by Hjarbæk Fjord, just 20 km from the SAMSON AGRO factory in Viborg. It offers ideal facilities both indoors and outdoors.

Service engineers

The first course in the new facility is an intensive two-day technical course for five installers from Samson Agrolize service partner A.P. Jørgensen in Ribe.

- The fitters who will be servicing slurry tankers around the country will first go through a "Stage I" three-day course. This course is followed by a two-day "Stage II" course for experienced service people, and it is this follow-up course that the people from A.P. Jørgensen are participating in today, says Kim Bennike.

The training is led by Niels Peter Christensen and Jan Worup, both service technicians with close ties to the development department at SAMSON AGRO.

- This way, every practical problem from the field is a short distance from the field to the SAMSON factory. This means we get highly qualified feedback on technical details in the use of the machines, just as the fitters exchange details and tricks with each other," says Niels Peter Christensen, who also acts as a telephone hot-line for the fitters.

Niels Peter Christensen is a service technician at SAMSON AGRO and knows everything there is to know about the new SAMSON SHB4 booms. With him on the phone, the path from practical experience in the field to SAMSON AGRO's development department is very short.

As everyone knows, not every technical problem can be predicted in a service manual, as these are sophisticated machines with electronic equipment that must work with, for example, tractors' GPS, farms' and contractors' management programs to deliver slurry with precision - often around the clock during peak season.

The interaction between the John Deere tractor's advanced displays and the machine is crucial. Of course, these crucial functions are intensively trained for both new users of SAMSON machines and for the technicians who have to troubleshoot and find a loose connection.

Exercises in diagnostics

Inside the training room, both new and older versions of control systems, such as SlurryMaster and other equipment, are reviewed for the installers. For example, the latest updates in menu structure are reviewed and troubleshooting is trained using the diagnostic computer that a SAMSON technician always has at hand.

- For example, we can simulate errors to train faster diagnostics," says Kim Bennike.

Kim Bennike is responsible for both user training and technician training for Samson Agrolize service technicians. Here he shows a special tool used for changing bearings on pumps. - Here in the large heated workshop, we can have the big SAMSON trucks inside when we offer the user training that comes with every new SAMSON slurry tanker.

- For the equally important, slightly rougher exercises, students need to take a trip to the workshop. For example, here we can train a smarter and faster way of changing bearings or impellers using a special tool. We can do that here in the heated machine hall, where we introduce the use of a special tool to the service engineers.

Lynderupgaard Estate - course facilities

A collaboration with Hjarbæk Fjord Golf Center right next to Lynderupgaard Estate ensures both accommodation and catering for SAMSON Academy's students. Hanne Glerup is responsible for all the practicalities, apart from teaching, for students and teachers and is ready to move in with lunch at the course room.
