It is rare that all of Bejstrup Machine Station's 21 slurry trailers are home at the same time. Rasmus Kold Kristiansen, co-owner of the contracting company, is pleased that Samson Agrolize's highly specialized service technicians carry out the annual seasonal check on the large fleet of vehicles.
There are some of Bejstrup Maskinstation's slurry trailers that run almost all year round, and then there are the ones they call spring trailers. A spring trailer delivers 30,000 to 70,000 cubic meters of slurry per year, while a year-round trailer can reach well over 100,000 cubic meters per year.
These are staggering figures for the contracting company's 21 slurry tankers in total. Dizzying, just like all the other numbers that describe the large contracting company that services livestock-dense agriculture throughout southwest Vendsyssel and most of Himmerland.
- Right now we have around 135 employees, the majority of whom are involved in agricultural work, explains one of the owners, Rasmus Kold Kristiansen.
As a regular annual routine, Samson Agrolize keeps the slurry tanker in tip-top condition by conducting an annual service check on all slurry tankers.
- Just as we keep the rest of our machinery in good working order, we appreciate that our slurry trailers are in good working order too. The service engineers from Samson Agrolize, Søren Nielsen and Kaare Ernstsen, know all the vehicles and the tools we have on them, and we naturally want to keep them running smoothly. That's why we have them do the annual check to avoid breakdowns and stops in the middle of the rush," explains Rasmus Kold Kristiansen.
Bejstrup Maskinstation has gradually managed the investments so that the 20 wagons and almost all tools are now SAMSON products.
- It's the most practical thing when we need to make it all fit together and combine everything. It makes everyday life easier for both our employees and our customers that everyone is familiar with the equipment," says Rasmus Kold Kristiansen.
Samson Agrolize begins the annual seasonal check of the slurry tankers at Bejstrup Maskinstation already in mid-summer after the hectic spring season, and when the contractor can easily take some of the tankers out for the seasonal check.
- This truck is from 2004 and has transported around 650,000 cubic meters of slurry in its time. And now it's getting the big trip and will be able to run for many years to come as a spring wagon," says Søren Nielsen.
What the two Samson Agrolize service technicians, Søren Nielsen and Kaare Ernstsen, don't know about a Samson slurry tanker, nobody knows. All year round, they spend all their working hours servicing, repairing and seasonally checking Samson slurry equipment. (See image at the bottom of the page)
- It goes without saying that the wheels and hubs should not succumb when the tank is full. When we change wheels and hubs like this, I also check the axle for damage and incipient cracking. With a special spray in two colors, we can find even the smallest incipient cracks, and here we chose to replace two of the axles," says Søren Nielsen.
With red and white contrasting colors, Søren Nielsen can check this 16-year-old wheel axle for microscopic cracks and get ahead of a scratch. (See image at the bottom of the page)
When it comes to wear on the pump tower, pump, three-way valve and pipes, what the Samson people colloquially call sand slurry presents a particular challenge.
- Around here, almost all cattle farms use sand in the cubicles, and it shows on the equipment. Pipes, taps, pump vanes and pump housing wear from the inside, and of course we always check whether there is enough material thickness for another season," says Søren Nielsen.
In this three-way valve, the material has worn away so much from the inside that there is nothing to hold the O-ring in place. - It will definitely end up with an annoying leak during the coming season when the O-ring is ejected, shows service technician Søren Nielsen, Samson Agrolize. - Here the material has worn away so much that the O-ring can no longer be held in place and keep the flange tight for much longer. Therefore, we had to replace the entire three-way valve.
Søren Nielsen also mentions a case where the inner pipe inside the tank was worn through and the truck could not keep the slurry stirred in the rear part.
The vast experience and deep knowledge of every detail of Samson machines does not come from nothing.
- I worked here at the machine station myself before I came to Samson Agrolize," says Søren Nielsen, who has a degree in agricultural machinery mechanics.
The highly specialized service technicians at Samson Agrolize each have their own well-equipped service vehicle and handle virtually all seasonal inspections at customer sites. Usually they work in pairs during seasonal inspections and drive separately during peak season.
Service technician Søren Nielsen from Samson Agrolize carries most common spare parts and wear parts for Samson vehicles in his service van. And Viborg is no further away than we can quickly get what we need," he says.
- From February 1 until the end of the peak season, we act mainly as an emergency service that can help at short notice if there is a breakdown during work. The rest of the year we do nothing more than prevent breakdowns during the high season, Søren Nielsen explains his function.
